With sadness, we announce the passing of Michael Gordon Troke at his home in Edmonton on November 21, 2017 at the age of 71. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Susan, his sons Shannon (Kerrie) and Morgan (Melanie), his grandchildren Alexandra, Jameson, Lauren, and Paige, his brother Ron (Jim), and by the rest of his extended family and friends.
Michael was born and raised in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1968. He moved to Edmonton in 1970, where he met Susan, and had a long and successful career as a partner with King & Company Chartered Accountants. Michael generously devoted his time volunteering for numerous not-for-profit- organizations, including the Edmonton International Airport and Meals on Wheels, and was actively involved in the Alberta soccer community for over 30 years, serving as the Finance Director for the Edmonton District Soccer Association from 1998 until his passing, as director on numerous other boards, and as coach and dedicated fan to his sons’ teams.
Details of a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation are graciously accepted.
