It is with deepest sorrow, that we announce the passing of Mike Cope, on February 6, 2014, after a very brave and determined battle with cancer.
Michael Gordon Cope was born in Winnipeg in 1967. He grew up in Calgary and as a teenager joined the Calgary Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Drum Corps became his passion for many years. It is how he met his wife Colleen, and together they travelled many places and made many friends. Mike later became the Director of Allegiance Elite Drum Corps where he inspired many youth with his enthusiasm, encouragement and guidance.
In 2002, Mike, Colleen and their two young daughters moved to Edmonton. Mike was a very hands-on father and spent many hours hugging, playing, camping, fishing, cheering on and coaching them.
Mike was in the renovation industry for many years and was dedicated to giving good customer service. In his spare time he happily volunteered many hours working fundraising bingos to support his daughter’s adventures is scouts, soccer and skating.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Mike, will remember him fondly for his sense of humor and his easy-going, cheerful and unwavering positive attitude. He was gracious, kind, selfless and a loving husband, father and friend.
Mike will be forever missed by his wife of 20 years, Colleen, daughters Elena (16) and Arial (14); brother Ken (Donna), father Gordon (Audrey), mother Patricia (Allan), Parents-in-law Douglas and Geraldine Krogman, brothers-in law Jason and Kelly (Michelle) and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held for Mike on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Parish, 17511 112 Street, Edmonton, Alberta. A viewing will take place at Serenity Funeral Service North Chapel, 10129 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta at 7:30 p.m..
