Eulalee Marie Meek-Mitchell (nee Meek) of Edmonton and formerly of Barracks River, St. Mary Parish, Jamaica departed this world to be at peace with our Heavenly Father on Monday, January 10, 2022, at the age of 60 years, after succumbing to a long and courageous battle with cancer and heart disease.
Eulalee loved the Lord with all her heart. Her kind soul and giving spirit touched so many and she will never be forgotten. Eulalee was born to Uriah Meek and Adella Meek (nee Pollock) of Buff Bay, Portland Parish, Jamaica in April 1961. Eulalee Marie Meek married Robert Elwood Mitchell of Edmonton (formerly of Leduc, Alberta) on July 14, 2012. After leaving Jamaica in 1991, Eula worked as a nanny in Wainwright, then moved to Edmonton where she worked as a nanny, security guard, prison guard, loss prevention officer, animal control officer, safety inspector, pipe coater, and an oil and gas labourer on new pipelines.
She is survived by her loving husband of 9 years, Robert (Bob) Mitchell. She is predeceased by 2 of her 5 siblings: Audrey Joyce Kurlew and Victor Chambers, and is survived by three siblings including her two brothers Owen Meek of Mount Vernon, NY and Devon Meek and a sister, Corlene Meek both of Jamaica. She has two children: Kadon Gray of Jamaica, and Troylon Webb of Edmonton. She also has a grandson Jordan Gray, nieces Gillian Meek and Samantha Meek, and a grand-niece Zakiya Morgan of Edmonton and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Champion City Church located at 12709-52 Street in Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, February 12 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dean Forster officiating. Eulalee will lay in state for viewing for approximately one hour (12:00 pm – 12:55 pm) before the service begins and again for a brief period following the service. As a result of the current COVID restrictions there will be no reception to follow the service, however lunch bags will be provided to everyone on a take-out to-go basis.
Eulalee requested burial, so there will be a brief interment committal to follow at 3:00 pm at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Gethsemane located at 16102 Fort Road. The funeral procession will leave the church shortly after the service ends.
