MCNAUGHTON, James Ian Campbell

It is with great sadness the family of James Ian Campbell McNaughton announces his passing on March 28, 2022, at the age of 61 years.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife Crystal; son Mitchell (Marilyn); daughter Delaney (Alex); and mother Margaret “Maggie”. He was predeceased by his father James Ian “Campbell” McNaughton.

Jim was born in Edmonton, Alberta and lived in the Strathearn & Fulton Place areas until the age of 10 when his family moved to Sherwood Park. Growing up Jim played several sports which included hockey, golf, football, rugby, lacrosse, volleyball and soccer. From a young age a favorite pastime of Jim’s was cooking and he was always excited to share his delicious food creations with his family.

Jim’s passion for hunting, fishing and nature also started at an early age and continued throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed many camping trips with his family and he loved sharing his passion and knowledge for the outdoors with his children. Regularly, he took his family on drives to watch wildlife which would start at 3:30 AM and always ended up with breakfast at a local highway restaurant.

Jim worked as a journeyman electrician for many years until he made a career change into the oil and gas sector where he worked for 22 years.

Jim had a selfless personality and anyone who knew Jim would agree that he was loyal to those he loved and cared about. He was kind, always encouraged others and made them feel good about themselves. His humor and non-judgmental personality will be greatly missed.

If friends desire, donations can be made in Jim’s memory to Trout Unlimited Canada at

The Family would like to thank Dr. Girard, Nurse Charlotte as well as the nurses and staff of Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns hospital for their compassion and exceptional care of Jim.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Hope City Church, 2225 66 St NW, Edmonton, AB. Jim will be laid to rest at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, 52356 RR 232, Sherwood Park, AB.
