McMILLAN (nee: Martineau/Cameron), Yvonne Dolores

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister who passed away after a long battle with cancer on March 20th, 2022, at the age of 78 years.

Dolores is remembered by her loving partner of 10 years, Doug Sharkey; children, Brad Cameron(Val), Lisa Graham(Chris); Step-children, Kevin McMillan(Paula), Jay McMillan(Nicole), Kevin Sharkey(Maude), and Shauna Sharkey; grandchildren, Brendan, Madison, Jordana, Jeremy, Alanna, Robyn, Chloe, Nicholas, Ally, Leanne, Dylan, Cole, Emilie, Alexia, and Kyann; siblings, Muriel Sikorski, Jim Martineau(Twyla), Bill Martineau(Karen), Ron Martineau, and Rhonda Weaselhead(Charlie); and numerous other family members and friends.

Dolores is predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Isabelle Martineau; Sons, Kevin Cameron, and Blaine McMillan; brother, Conrad Martineau; and husband, Dennis McMillan.

Dolores was born in Legoff, Alberta in 1943. She was one of 7 children in a large loving family and continued her devoted traditions with her own family and stepfamilies. Dolores was an avid softball player, curler, and golfer. She loved to garden, play cards, host dinners and good old family gatherings. In the winters she was a true snowbird, travelling to her place in Yuma every fall and returning each spring. After losing her son Kevin in 2014, she held a charity golf event in his honour, raising over $21,000 for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. Dolores bravely fought breast cancer in 2018 and was then diagnosed with brain cancer in 2021. She courageously faced another round of treatment shortly after, giving her another precious year to spend with her loved ones. She will be missed but the loving memories she created will last forever

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Huang and her team at the Cross Cancer Institute of Edmonton for all the kindness, support and care shown to Dolores during her battle with cancer. We would also like to thank Dr. Girard Lawn of Sherwood Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Rivercrest Care Centre, who cared so much for Dolores during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation in Dolores’ honor to the Alberta Cancer Foundation at 10123 99 St NW #710, Edmonton, AB T5J 3H1 or to the BC Cancer Foundation at 686 W Broadway Suite 150, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1G1.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Dominic Parish, 811 Lakeshore Drive, Cold Lake, Alberta on April 23 at 1 pm. A reception will follow at the Grand Centre Golf and Country Club, 62417 Range Road 420A

So sorry to learn of passing of Delores. A freind , a colleague, and a one of the old timer AETE stalwart, a genuine person who loved to meet people and enjoy social gatherings. We remember with fondness an impromptu evening while walking by her condo she and Denise waving from their balcony. Before we know it we were in their home and spent a few hours enjoying their company and some refreshments. Our condolences to Delores’s family and friends. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

There are no words to express how saddened we are to hear the news of Delores’ passing . She was definitely one of a kind. A truer friend you could not find ❤️ First met Delores at our wedding, which was also her first date with Dennis. Being her neighbor was so much fun, lots of late nights splitting beers and eating gizzards . Delores, Judy and Wayne are all 1943 models. Wayne celebrated many birthdays with his two old Hyde’s, as he would lovingly refer to them. RIP Delores. Love you girlfriend
