MAY, Bobbie

MAY, Bobbie

Nov. 30, 1927 – Mar. 29, 2022

On March 29, 2022, Bobbie passed away at the age of 94.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Brent (Cindy) May; Tom (Evelyn) May; daughter Lois (John) Warwick; daughter-in-law June (Bill) Cowan; grandchildren Ginger (Feisal), Cory, Christie (Matt), Sharon (Cam), Rob (Cathy), Rhianna (Luke); great-grandchildren Ashley, Brayden, Alynah, Kalen, Kruz, Matteo, Oliver, Aria, Rosalie, and Parker. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bobbie was predeceased by her husband Mel; son Ron; grandson Darcy; granddaughter Laura; sisters Margaret and Jane; and daughter-in-law Debbie.

Born in Vermilion, AB to Frederick and Doris Richardson, Bobbie grew up in a family which fostered her love of music and animals.  She had a blissful childhood riding her horse through the river valley, playing with her dogs, and forging many lifelong friendships.  She met Mel in high school and they married on April 28, 1947.  They eventually settled in Leduc to raise their family.  Bobbie had a zest for life and through the years was an avid curler, was involved in the Leduc Drama Club, and was an active member of her church, but she was best known as the local piano teacher.  She taught several generations of Leduc’s young pianists and was a founding member of the Leduc Music Festival. In later years, she formed and directed a women’s choir, and rediscovered her childhood interest in art and painting.  A love of travel took her many places, and she enjoyed the ’snowbird life’ in Palm Springs with her sisters Jane and Margaret.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Bobbie at St. David’s United Church on Friday, April 29th at 2:00 P.M. In remembrance of Bobbie, please take a moment to say hello to those you meet along the way, and should you wish, make a donation to an animal charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare Nursing Home with special gratitude to Sandra, Barb, Carrie, Makenzie, Charlene, Jeanie, Elisha, Rebecca, Journie and Dani.

We lost another one. Mrs. May was certainly on my “most talented musicians I ever met” list. What an excellent teacher! Condolences to everyone that met her!

To Tom and Evelyn and to all of the family members we never met. Our deepest condolences to each one of you in the loss of a mother, grandmother, great any lives during her 94 years here on this earth. We remember her fondly when we were neighbours at Heritage Vilas. And I remember her warm and caring hands when I received reiki treatments from her. She was always there to help wherever, whenever and whoever she could. Rest In Peace Bobbi. You are lovingly remembered.

Joan (Ollie) Meidinger

Bobbi touched many lives in her 94 years, mine was one of them. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to know such an inspiring, caring, woman. To Lois, Brent, Tom and your families, hugs to each of you.

Helen/Kerry Atkinson

We have been friends with Bobbie since 1980, have shared many of her musical experiences and walked with her in her final days at Extendicare. Through her various activities, she was a special lady in Leduc.
