Matilda C. Bella
Peacefully on April 11, 2017 Matilda passed away at the age of 91 years.
She leaves to cherish her memory 17 nieces and nephews: 8 across the prairies by her brother Frank; 7 in southern Alberta by her sister Margaret and 2 in Calgary by her brother Rudy.
She will be fondly remembered by many friends and co-workers at the U of A Hospital, community and charitable organizations and parishioners of St. James, St. Angela and St. Edmund Parishes.
Matilda was predeceased by her parents Louis (1981) and Elizabeth (1966); brothers Julius, Rudy and Frank, sister Margaret and nephew Johnny.
Matilda received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa in 1959. She lived her early life in service to the Lord as a member of the Sisters of Providence. Upon leaving the order, she continued her life of service in accounting and administration positions at hospitals in Vancouver, BC; Vanderhoof, BC; High Prairie, AB and at the University of Alberta Hospital until her retirement in 1988.
After retirement she enjoyed traveling to many different countries, painting, and volunteering at her parish and at many non-profit organizations.
Memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edmund Catholic Parish, 13120 – 116 Street, Edmonton. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation.
