Mary Fedorovich

-

h heavy hearts we announce the
passing of Mary in the early hours of March
6, 2015. At 95 years of age, Mary still had a
mischievous sense of humour and a
curiosity about life around her. Mary
enjoyed having visitors, friends and family
to spice up her days.
She was born on the farm in Barich, Alberta
on February 14, 1920 to Thomas Yasinski
and Anna (Chersick) Yasinski. Mary had
two children, both of whom have
predeceased her: Lawrence (Larry)
Polachuk (May 11, 2014) and Billy Joe
Polachuk (8 days old). She is survived by
her grandson Kevin Polachuk (Nicole),
sisters Sophie (Peter) Bottoms, Olga (Ray)
Hodge, Jenny (George) Thibault, daughterin-law
Hope Polachuk, nephew Danny
(Janet) Fedorovich, stepson Martin
Fedorovich, numerous nieces and
nephews. Many of Mary’s family have also
passed before her: brothers Tom, Victor,
Nick (Ester), Peter, Mike, John (Joyce),
and sisters Rosie, Lillie, Josie (Howard)
Gould, daughter-in-law Sue Polachuk and
beloved granddaughter Leanne Polachuk.
Mary was married to Zanon Fedorovich.
When visiting and caring for Zan while he
was living at the Northwood Care Centre,
Mary became acquainted with the ladies
that volunteered at the Tuck Shop. Mary
had received a plaque thanking her for
7000 hours of volunteer service.
Mary worked a variety of jobs in her life,
including cookhouse helper, waitress,
chambermaid and laundress. Eventually,
Mary owned and operated a laundromat in
Mercoal, Alberta until the town closed and
then moved to Edmonton, Alberta where
she worked as a uniform factory
seamstress until retirement. Wherever she

willingness to work hard and do the job
right. She was happiest when she was
busy. whether in the garden, kitchen or at
work, she always had a smile on her face.

Zenaida Banton

My name is Zenaida Banton and I’m a Nursing Attendant at the Good Samaritan Stony Plain. I cared for Mary and found her a kind, loving and very compassionate person. Mary called me Angie for the word “Angel” because whenever she needs a cup of tea I’m there to help her. God bless her for now she is my Angel.
