SCHUBINSKI, Martin Oct 10, 1924 – May 17, 2016
It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to a Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, who passed away May 17, 2016 at the age of 91.
Martin was a professional Master sausage maker from Berlin Germany who came to Canada in late 1953 on the ship “Anna Salen” and in early 1954 was re-united with his wife Gisela and son Lutz. Martin experienced difficult times during WW2 but moved to Canada with his family to pursue his trade and opportunities.
He started his own meat market and delicatessen business in Beverly in 1955 and quickly gained reputation of being a great German Sausage Maker. Over the years he opened 12 more stores in Edmonton and surrounding area. He started the first “Alberta Meat Processing Training School”.
He is remembered with love by his wife Gisela of 69 years, his loving sons: Lutz/Heather, Burkhard (Bill), Peter and Vernon; Grand Children: Jamie, Amanda, Jori, Janean, Candace and Harley; Great Grand Children: Jayde, Zoe, Dominic, Alyssa and Ciara. He will also be remembered by his friends, caregivers, brother Herbert/Ursela and family in Germany.
Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christianity which took place on May 24, 2016. Martin so loved his church, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Martin’s name to Parish of St. Alphonsus 11828 – 85 street, Edmonton, Alberta T5B 3E9
