My thoughts are with you all at this time. I remember Cousin Martha fondly, best from our childhood days, and her brother Mickey who very recently passed, who ate fried egg sandwiches and always made me laugh with his jokes. I remember Martha’s two older sisters Nena and Audrey. Their Shukin family lived in Buchanan on the farm and in town, while our Shukin family – my Sis Hazel, our Mother, Mabel, our Dad, Bill and I – lived on the farm near Canora. I also remember Martha’s and her siblings’ parents, Mike (older brother to our Dad, Bill); and Mary, who made the best fresh strawberry varenyki I ever ate! Martha was 5 years older than me, and was always fun and vivacious, loved playing the accordion with us. Many years had passed by the time I saw her last in 1986 when she and Emil visited during Expo 86. We rekindled memories and she talked about her family.

My sympathy and best regards to your family,
Cousin Paulette (Pat Kirkwood – nee Shukin)

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Aunt Martha was an amazing woman who will always be remembered in our hearts.

May you have peace in your hearts knowing that Baba, Dida, Aunt Nina, Aunt Audrey, and dad were there to meet her as she arrived in heaven.

Love Cindy, Mike and Dylan Schawalder
