Dearest Nick, Ron and Doug,
Even though I have been in California for almost 30 years, my heart is still in Edmonton and in particular on 38th street.
I can’t begin to tell you how many people have heard the stories of my wonderful
childhood. All of us together for all those years, through toddlerhood, R.J.Scott, Halloweens and fast forward to weddings and babies. Marj was indeed my second mom and you Nick my second dad. Marj did so much for me all those years and I felt so comfortable at the Sherstan home. I loved Laureen so much that she was my only attendant at my wedding. We were all, and will always be, so close.
I am so grateful for having the amazing Marj Sherstan in my life.
May Peace and Comfort follow you all through these difficult days.
Love always,
Deb (Duncan) Comrie

Dear NICK, Ron and Doug –

I think it was about 1958 ?? when the block was formed. The Tymchuk’s, The Duncan’s, the Oak’s, the Stadnyk’s and the Sherstan’s. And then there was Mr. Collins across the street from your house that had that huge acre of land. All those beautiful trees.! And that long driveway he had. What a view you had.

Look at this beautiful picture of Marg !! I remember her face and that smile !! She was like a second Mom to me when I moved back to the neighbourhood after a terrible time in my life. She was always there – we talked about girlie things – hair, make-up, fashion, cooking – it was soo much fun!!

And her GARDEN – well what can I say – she was a natural. I must admit I never raided her garden as a child ! Ha!! Ha!!

And NICK – let’s not forget you – every time when you came home from work and walked past my backyard in the alley, you always stopped and asked how I was/and/or needed anything. The memories of your kindness and thoughfulness are still with me today.

I share your pain – I live your pain – just remember you are all blessed because GOD blessed you with Marg and Laureen.

There are so many happy memories over the years but one stands out. The trip to Friendly Cove on the Uchuk, picking blackberries and making jam that evening. Marj, you were so loved and your smile would light the darkest gloom.
