Marilyn Mary Hiob (Willick)

-

It is with much sadness and love that we say goodbye to Marilyn Hiob, who passed away at her home on December 21, 2016 at the age of 58 years. She will be forever remembered by her husband Gerhard; daughters: Jacqueline (Derek MacGillivray) and Kirstin (Stephen) Epp; grandchildren: Micah and Kaitlyn; siblings: Doreen (John) Brady, Ron (Gladys), Joe (Giselle) and Charlene (Brian) Press; as well as numerous family members, neighbours, friends, and coworkers. She was predeceased by her parents and her son-in-law, Andrew Doiron. Marilyn was the 4th of five children born to Leo and Lucy Willick. She spent the majority of her childhood in Marcelin, Saskatchewan before the family moved to Vegreville, Alberta where Marilyn finished high school. After completing training as a Pharmacy Technician at Red Deer College in 1977, Marilyn worked for many years at hospital pharmacies within Edmonton, and at the provincial vaccine depot. She met Gerhard on a ski hill, and they were married on October 8, 1983, celebrating their 33rd anniversary in 2016. She will be remembered best for her positive spirit and quiet determination. You could find her most often playing with her grandchildren or tolerating another camping trip. She was active in her church community and found great purpose in sharing her love through acts of service and fostering meaningful relationships. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 7, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., at McKernan Baptist Church, 11103-76 Ave NW, Edmonton. Cremation has taken place. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Colliton, Dr. Yee, Dr. Smylie, Baljinder RN, and all the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute and the Palliative and Home Care Services for all their kindness and support. Memorial donations in Marilyn’s honour may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

I am with family in Oakville and looking at the Willick family entry in the History of Marcelin. Our families were so close and I am remembering my time with Leo and PeeWee (Joe Willick) especially. Marilyn was an inspiring example to those here in Oakville who knew her.

Janis & Larry Beever

We felt much shock and sadness upon hearing of Marilyn’s passing. As friends of her parents, we know they were very proud of her. She was a beautifully caring person .
We send our deepest sympathies to Marilyn’s family.
