Marguerite Lillian Perry (nee Wright)

On January 13, 2019 Marguerite passed away at the age of 97.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marguerite (Marvin) and Elaine (Wayne), grandsons Dean and Kyle, and great grandchildren Caeleb and Kaiya.

She enlisted in the Navy in 1943 where she met and married Frank Swanson. After living in Regina and Edmonton for the first 10 years of her married life she spent the next 50 years in Calgary and Okotoks, moving back to Edmonton to be closer to her eldest daughter in 2013. She was a very independent woman who loved animals, reading and playing cards. Marguerite was an accomplished bridge player and directed and operated her own duplicate bridge studio in Calgary for several years. After moving back to Edmonton, she became an active member of the Duggan Seniors Bridge Club and the Sherwood Park 55 Plus Club, and made many friendships there.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family internment will be held at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Marguerite may be made to the Edmonton SPCA.

I spend much of my time doing genealogy, & I was very surprised to find out that I have cousins here in Alberta!
I’m from Richmond, Yorkshire, England & came to Alberta many years ago. Marguerite is my 2nd cousin once removed, & her mom, Edith, is my maternal grandads (William Tate 1896-1965 Richmond) first cousin. Their moms are Poppleton sisters, one of whom is my great granma.
I have lived in Calgary for 20 yrs, & today I visited Edith & Marguerite at their memorial site. I lived in Edmonton for 24 yrs before coming to Calgary. I wish I had known sooner about my family members here in Alberta!
