It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Margaret, who passed away at the Misericordia Hospital on September 30, 2014 at the age of 85 years.
Margaret was born August 11, 1929 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and entered heaven’s gates on September 30, 2014. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her devoted husband of 64 years, Donald; her five children: Donald (Ruth) McIntosh, Sandy McIntosh (Cynthia Chatten), Heather (Gregory) Adams, Peter (Laurie) McIntosh, Ruth (Grant) McIntyre; her grandchildren: Andrew (Susan) McIntosh, Isobel McIntosh; Stuart (Jessica) McIntosh, Graham McIntosh; Jeffrey Adams, Ryan (Rebecca) Adams, Alissa Adams, Mirriah Adams; Julie McIntosh, Zoe McIntosh; Alexander McIntyre, Liam McIntyre, and Abigail McIntyre; her great-granddaughter, Molly McIntosh, and her daughter-in-love, Joyce McIntosh.
She was the oldest of ten children, and leaves loving memories to be cherished by her siblings: Don (Liz) McCallum, Peter (Mary) McCallum, Jack (Chris) McCallum, Malcom (Sharon) McCallum, Richard (Lorna) McCallum, Grace Anne (Richard) Stahl, and many nieces and nephews.
Welcoming her in heaven were her parents, Grace and Robert McCallum; in-laws, Mabel and Daniel McIntosh; sisters: Mary Lou McCallum and Ruth Shulga; brother, Paul McCallum; sisters-in-law: Verda McCallum, Christine McIntosh and Agnes McIntosh; brothers-in-law: Paul Shulga and Fred Swailes; and granddaughter Cynthia Scheidegger.
She was a very kind and gentle soul; had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. Margaret had an unwavering faith in God, and shared it with all she knew. She was a member of Beulah Alliance Church for 62 years, and was very involved with the church and participated in teaching, volunteering and leading activities and events. A consummate mother and homemaker, Margaret was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing and hosting meals for her family and friends.
Viewing and opportunity to visit with members of the family will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Service, 5311 – 91 Street NW, Edmonton. A Memorial Service for Margaret will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at Beulah Alliance Church, 17504-98 A Avenue, Edmonton with Pastor Alan Powles officiating.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Allison Jerome and the nursing staff of 6 West, Misericordia Hospital, Edmonton for all of the kindness, support and care shown to Margaret and her family.
In lieu of flowers we would like to request that donations in memory of Margaret McIntosh be made to the Riziki Children’s Orphanage in Kenya c/o A.I.M. International, 1641 Victoria Park Ave., Scarborough, Ontario, M1R 1P8.
