MALTBY, Robert Charles

It is with profound sadness, that the family of Robert Charles Maltby, announces his sudden passing, on March 5th at the age of 60 years.

Rob is lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Lynne, his children, Daniel Maltby (Alana), and Adam Maltby. His In-laws, Doris and Andy Isbister, Roger and Pat Gamache, and Paul Gamache. His nephews, Marc and Megan Isbister, Michael and Jen Isbister, and his nieces, Michelle Wakal (Curtis), Jill and Scott Tansowny, Danielle and James MacArthur, Angela and Carl Metz, Lisa Gamache, Chantelle and Eric Allam, Elaine Gamache (Devin). Great nieces and nephews; Abbey, Sophie, Ben, Kennedy, Kadence, Tanner, Cameron, Attie, Rowan, Aliyah, Cruz, Ariana, and Kali.

Rob was predeceased by his father Charles (Chuck), his sister Susan Maltby, brother Stephen Maltby, father-in-law Roland Gamache, mother-in-law Lena Gamache, and sister-in-law Louise Gamache.

Rob was definitely a man of service. He served his community as a Correctional Officer, at the Fort Saskatchewan Correction Centre, for over 30 years, and as a Part-time Firefighter, with the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department, for 30 years, retiring in February 2020. Rob loved nature and the outdoors. We enjoyed camping in the summer, and he enjoyed going quadding and fishing with his buddies, at least once a year. Early on in our retirement, we were able to take two fabulous vacations, one through the Panama Canal, and one to Maui. His dream vacation was to go on an Alaskan cruise, but we had to cancel due to Covid in May 2020. Rob was a wonderful father, husband, uncle, great uncle, and friend to so many. He was always ready to give anyone a helping hand, and never expected anything in return. He will be remembered for his love of children, begging to be “Santa” at Christmas time, his good nature, and sense of humour.
He will be dearly missed by his soulmate, and best friend of 37 years, Lynne. His sons, Daniel, and Adam, who respected and admired their dad, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Rob’s memory, may be made to Inclusion Alberta, as our family’s charity of choice. (https://inclusionalberta.org/donate/)

We were really sad to hear of Rob’s passing. We had many good times together. I remember many years ago hanging with Rob and Denis while we worked at the old fort and going fishing with his dad at Moose lake. Rob always had a big smile and was a perfect gentleman. He left us much too young. Rest peacefully, my friend.

Rob was my friend for over 40 years, he enjoyed playing hockey with the Kinsmen Green Machine for several years with his buddy’s and all the social events that were included! We enjoyed several scuba diving adventures in Alberta and the West Coast. Later on my wife Shelley and I were fortunate to take a cruise through the Panama Canal with Rob and Lynne! Rob was one of a kind and truly a caring man with a huge heart that he so graciously shared with everyone he met!
We will all miss Rob in our lives! RIP buddy!
