We’ve lost a very special man. Our husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many passed away peacefully on January 21. He leaves a legacy of faith, love, and kindness.
Franz was born in Deutsch Wagram, Austria and came to Canada in 1953 to travel and seek adventure. At night school, while learning English, he met Erna Rampf. They married in 1954, made Edmonton home, and raised 5 children there.
Franz was predeceased by Erna; his sisters, Rose, Joschi, and Friedl; and brothers Rudy and Pauli. He is survived by his wife Mary; brother Hansi (Galena); children Ruth (Bob) Montgomery, Frank, Evelyn, Christine (Jim) Kelly, and Ken; and grandchildren Tiara (Jose) Rodriguez Núñez, Joel (Christina), Jonathan, Leannah, and Jim.
Let us cherish his memory and let it live on.
Graveside Service will be livestreamed on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Family and friends may join by virtual attendance by visiting https://distantlink.com/SerenityES.html. A memorial service will be held when COVID restrictions are lifted.

Glenda Malina
Franz Malina was a wonderful man! He loved to read and learn new things and enjoyed discussing world issues. As he aged he challenged himself to use the computer to stay in touch. He loved life and God blessed him in his last years to have Mary to walk hand in hand. In our many conversations, Grandpa would tell me stories about his life and they always ended with his deep faith and confidence of what life would bring in the end. I am thankful that Grandpa’s prayers have been answered. Jesus took him quickly and his work on this earth is done.
-“Well done good and faithful servant!” Matthew 25:23.
