Our mother and grandmother, Doreen Marvis Mager (nee Prier) departed this life with family at her side while in the U of A Hospital, Edmonton, at the age of 79.
She is deeply missed by family: sister Carol Keen of Red Deer; sons Sean (Joanne) and Kevin; grandchildren Jack, Ella, Hugh and Marla; friend and former husband, Trevor; sister-in-law Dora Mager of Duncan, B.C.; nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Benson and Olive Prier (nee Cairns); sister, Linda; and brothers-in-law Wally Chassé and John Keen.
Born in Dauphin, MB, she lived her early life in Grandview, then moved to Fort Saskatchewan in 1957. She earned a B.Ed. from the U of A and taught in Dawson Creek, B.C., Sherwood Park, Ministik and Fort Saskatchewan schools.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 21 at Muttart Conservatory. Family, friends and colleagues of the past and present are welcome. RSVP and confirm details by email to [email protected].

Prier Gail
Doreen was my cousin. Her father, Benson, and my father, Harvey were brothers (Prier). In the early years they farmed together in Grandview, Manitoba. Doreen and I stayed in touch throughout the years. She was such a loving and caring person. Kindness shone through her and I never heard her make an unkind reference about anyone or anything.
