Lois Marion Sloth passed away peacefully on October 13, 2018 to be reunited with her beloved husband Richard Luxhøj. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Karin and her husband, David Patsula, Kirstine and her husband, Graeme Hull, grandsons Liam and Rowan Hull, nephews David Anderson and Tom and his wife, Trish Anderson and numerous relatives in Denmark. She was predeceased by her parents Hugh Thompson and Lottie Anderson and her brother Harry and his wife, Clara Anderson.
In 1950 Lois graduated from the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing and earned her Public Health in Nursing from the University of Alberta. She greatly enjoyed her time nursing in Berkeley and Alberta. The special friendships made were maintained and treasured throughout her lifetime.
A creative woman who had a passion for Jasper and the beauty of the mountains, Lois appreciated art and encouraged it within her girls. She wrote many songs for special events with her buddy, Helene, and hand decorated each copy, inviting her daughters to join in colouring. The family also has fond memories of holidays abroad including trips back to Denmark.
Lois and Richard loved their four dogs: Jet, Rusty, Kas and Higgins who slowly moved from the backyard to a home in the house. Lois lit up every time her ‘grand’dog Tallulah trotted into the room and loved her as her own.
Her beautiful grandchildren brought great joy to her life as she delighted in hearing their tales of hockey or school over a game of cards or family dinner. Lois was vivacious, energetic and the life of any party. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Grace United Church 6215-104 Ave NW.
