It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our father Leonard Frederick Kropp on March 30, 2014, a mere 55 days after the loss of his wife (our mother) Lydia in early February. Leonard passed away peacefully at the Grey Nuns Hospital after a four year battle with kidney failure and numerous other ailments. Born on February 27, 1923, the 91 plus years he lived was a period of incredible change in history.
He leaves behind four sons Ken (Ardy), Bernie (Brenda), Randy, and Myron; daughter-in-law Dawne; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Larry in August 2013, his parents, sister Alma, brother Robert, and daughter-in-law Debbie.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Bradley and his team at the Grey Nuns Renal Unit for 4 years of tremendous care he received there, as well as to the nursing staff on Stn. 54 at the Grey Nuns during his brief stay there. A special thank you to his wonderful home care provider Jane who for her stay with him was there 24 hours/7 days a week. She was a pillar and became his best friend.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 9909-90 Street, Fort Saskatchewan with Interment to follow.
If desired, a donation to Christ Lutheran Church building fund or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
