Following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Leo Antoine Beaudry of Stony Plain, Alberta passed away on December 3, 2014 surrounded by family. He was 74.
Over the years, Leo had many titles – brother, husband, father, friend, to name just a few – but the proudest badge he wore said, “Grandpa”. He loved his family, his home, farming, the outdoors, animals, hockey, football, a good game of cards and an even better cup of coffee to go with his newspaper. He was a man with many diverse talents that he often shared by volunteering his time to help others. Growing up after his father passed away when Leo was 5 years old taught him the value of education, financial responsibility and dedication to work and family. He left a long, successful career in the meat packing industry at age 60 with plans to enjoy retirement with the love of his life. Tragically, his plans were cut short when Alzheimer’s crept into his life. He spent his last couple years at the Good Samaritan Care Centre in Stony Plain with his adoring spouse by his side.
Leo will be dearly missed by his deeply devoted wife, Joan, and his children, Lance (Lori), Kelvin, and Sheila (Joe), his grandchildren, Kayla, Conner, Cole and Maddie, his siblings Ernest (Rose), Donald (Marie) and Bernice (David) and extended family. He was predeceased by his father Antoine, his mother Regina, and his sisters Rosanna and Gladys.
