Hyun Ae was born in North Korea in 1927. After completing high school, she became a teacher, which was very rare at that time in Korea. Because of the Communist regime she moved to South Korea in 1948. She worked hard and diligently to send all five of her children to University. She immigrated to Canada in 1982, sponsored by her son James. She got a job as a horticulturist at a Japanese garden, then later worked on various farms until she retired.
She was proud to be a recipient of CPP as well as OAS which enabled her to live independently and enjoy life. She received Jesus as her Lord and personal Saviour in 2000 and on January 26, 2003 she was baptized in the Southside Pentecostal Church.
In January 2020, she became weak and missed her meals frequently. In February, she fell and was hospitalized at the University of Alberta Hospital. On April 3, 2020, she was transferred to Mill Woods Shepherd’s Care.
On August 24, 2020 Hyun Ae quietly slipped away to be with her Lord at the age of 93. Hyun Ae had five children: James, Elizabeth, JoongSuk, HaeRan and DaeSuk; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
