Lawrence “Laurie” Robert Ostertag



On the afternoon of Monday, June 12, 2017, Laurie Ostertag passed away at the age of 90 years, the last of all his siblings. Formerly of Evansburg, Laurie reserved a close connection to Mountain Park – Coal Branch area. With the ability to easily strike up a conversation and always ready to share a joke, it was effortless for Laurie to become blessed with many friends. Laurie will forever be loved and remembered by his children, Carol (Greg) Gibb, Terry Ostertag, Scott Ostertag, Leanne (Reza) Boroumand and Larry (Shelley) Ostertag; friend and companion, Eleanor Metzger; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends near and far. Laurie was predeceased by his wife Katherine in 2003; parents, Julius and Annie Ostertag and all of his siblings. Those wishing to pay their respects to Laurie are encouraged to do so on Saturday, June 17, 2017 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #196, 4823 50 Street, Evansburg, Alberta. Funeral Services will commence at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Kelly Desmarais officiating. Interment to follow at Evansburg Cemetery. Memorial donations in honour of Laurie may be made directly to Stollery Children’s Hospital or S.T.A.R.S.
