Laurie Dunford passed away on July 9, 2013 at the age of 59 after a brief stay at the Grey Nuns Hospital.
She was born in Montreal, Quebec but lived most of her life in Edmonton. Her professional and charitable life took her on many medical missions in South and Central America.
She touched many people in her travels throughout the world and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Laurie fought her battle with cancer with determination and a strong faith in Jesus. She was a strong supporter of prevention and wholistic health and researched extensively which inspired her to write two books about her journey for survival.
She is survived by her parents Doreen Dunford and Brian Dunford; siblings: Hugh Dunford, Barb Claridge (Kevin) of Calgary, Jennifer Bourret (Marc), Michael Dunford (Oklahoma) and four nephews: Dale, Greg, Darren and Randy.
Laurie’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those many friends who provided Laurie with so much support and encouragement.
A special thanks to Laurie’s good friend Allison Plishka and her employer Dr C Tai.
In lieu of flowers and in Laurie’s memory, donations may be made to Hallelujah Acres Canada, Oasis of Hope c/o the Cancer Aid and Research Fund, or a charity of your choice.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Edmonton South Seventh day Adventist Church, 5108 — 106 Avenue, officiated by Pastor John Murley.
