On Thursday, December 22, 2016, Larry James Solomon passed away at Breton Long Term Care at the age of 79 years. He was born in Tomahawk, Alberta to parents Narcissa and John Solomon. Larry left the Tomahawk area for some time and raised his family in Grande Prairie. Upon retirement, Larry and Eleanor made Drayton Valley home. He was kind, caring and compassionate, all traits that made him the love of Eleanor’s life – He was generous with his time, always involved with his community and giving countless hours of his time as a volunteer. Larry loved the Edmonton Oilers and there was no team better than the Saskatchewan Roughriders, but there was no greater love than the love he had for his family – He was good… Larry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor; daughters, Shauna (Irvin) Peterson and Sheila (Richard) Berrisford; grandchildren, Kelsey, Cordell, Rebecca and Laura; four brothers, Ervin, Bob (Carol), Gerry (Gwen) and Wilf; one sister, Joyce Karach (George Elliott); in-laws, Floyd (Nellie) Sauve, Norene Strocher and Dwain (Carol) Sauve, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and large circle of friends. Larry was predeceased by his parents, Narcissa and John Solomon; mother and father in-law, Frieda and Lawrence Sauve; sister, Marjorie Plank; niece, Joy Strocher and two special nephews, Phillip and Andrew Strocher. In honour of Larry, a private family gathering was held. The Solomon family is extremely grateful to the staff at Breton Long Term Care for the kindness and attention provided to Larry during his stay. If so desired, memorial contributions in Larry’s name may be directed to Breton Long Term Care.
