Eric Lankoff passed away on November 17, 2021, at the age of 69, in his home surrounded by his family. His battle with cancer showed his courage and proved that he was always ready with a smile or a laugh no matter what life threw at him. Despite his pain, Eric fought hard until the end.

Apart from his smile and sense of humor, Eric will always be remembered for his love of his family, friends, motorcycles and the open road. He was happiest when he was driving one of his 2 street bikes or when he was racing his dirt bike. The open road called to him as well driving our Motorhome or truck.

Eric met his wife Linda, of 47 years, at the general store owned by her grandparents, known in the community as Mr. & Mrs. Melanson, across the road from the family farm where Eric and his siblings grew up. They married in 1974 and eventually left the farm life and moved first to Ardrossan and then to Sherwood Park, Alberta where they built a life with their two children, Robert and Cheryl and many friends.

Eric is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Rob (Brandy); daughter, Cheryl (Jason); his grandchildren, Katelyn, Caleb, and Logan; his mother, Helen; and 5 of his 6 siblings.

A celebration of life is planned for April 23, 2022, with further details to come.

On behalf of the entire Zacsko and Besa families, our condolences go out to you, Linda and the family. Eric was always warmly welcomed at our shop and seen laughing and carrying on at the races. It was a good day when he and Linda were “in the house”. Always kind and warm, a gentleman to the end. He will be missed.

Rob, my deepest condolences on the passing of your father. You, Brandy, and the boys are in my thoughts. I recall many conversations around the two wheel activities that were shared between you and your father. Cherish the memories of those times. Take care.

Brian & Cindy Smith

Our sincere condolences Linda, Rob & Brandy and Cheryl & Jason and extended family. Taken way too soon, he fought a valiant battle too many times without ever giving up. His zest for life and everything two wheeled will never be forgotten, always smiling and looking forward to the next adventure. An honor to work with him for so many years, but an even bigger honor to be his friend. Memories of the fun and laughter shared will live on forever, RIP my friend.

Bob and Shirley Denkhaus and family

We were shocked to learn of Eric’s passing. So sorry for your whole family. Many fond memories of meeting, saying and smiling all around. Many rugby memories too!

May you come together to remember and grieve and know many others are thinking of you and feeling sad.

Rod and Elaine Hale

Our deepest sympathy to you Linda and family. We shared such great holidays, motorcycle trips with the wonderful picnics, and birthday dinners where Eric became Mr. Steak and Rod was Mr. PR. A favorite memory will be the fun they had driving that steep curvy hill in Lewiston Idaho.
Eric always lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed.

Vern Schmidt

Linda and Family, we just saw the notice in the Sherwood Park News. Both Dawn and I were shocked to see this. We both feel terrible that we did not re-connect when we moved back here from BC. We are so sorry for your loss. Eric was a great guy, and gone too soon not to be with us. Take care and hopefully we can meet back up soon!

Wells family
