LANDRY, Erika Kirsten

It is with an enormous sense of sorrow and loss that we announce the passing of Erika Kirsten Landry on November 18th, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Erika was born and raised in Victoria, BC and moved to Edmonton in 2015. Anyone who knew Erika was blessed to witness her brilliant sense of humour, her compassion and zest for life. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, sharing her experiences and her wit, she often brought the best out of those around her. Erika suffered for many years with various health issues. We are at peace knowing she is no longer in pain. Despite her challenges, Erika was an eternal optimist and continued to push forward.

Erika will be lovingly missed by her mother JoAnn, her sisters Brittney (Trevor) and Kayla (Jared). Her Auntie Bonnie (Anton) and Uncle Mike (Kimberly). Erika took great pride in being an amazing aunt and her loss will be considerably felt by her nephews Nolan, Parker and Myles and her niece Mackenzie. Perhaps most importantly, she will be missed by her dog Jayda who was her everything. Erika also has biological family who will be feeling her loss immensely.

Erika is predeceased by her loving grandparents Exelda and Donald Barratt.

We would like to express our gratitude to her wonderful dialysis team at Grey Nun’s Hospital.

Erika would be disappointed if we didn’t mention the importance of organ donation. A recipient of a kidney donation herself, she always stressed the importance of signing up to be an organ donor. In lieu of flowers we kindly ask that you donate to the Kidney Foundation in her name.

A celebration of her life will be held at Summerside Beach Club 1720 88 St SW, Edmonton, AB on Thursday, November 24th at 3:30pm. Please join us in remembering her short but beautiful life.

I knew Erika and family since she was a teen. They are beautiful welcoming people and especially Erika was so open and comforting. She had a sense of humour and quick wit I liked that she was intelligent and could think for herself! She had so much heart and her suffering was astounding but took it like a trooper. I will miss her, I always enjoyed our conversations, I enjoyed her company. She’s not suffering anymore. Be at peace Erika.

I am very devastated to hear of the passing of Erika. Erika and I were in a close relationship since she moved to Edmonton in 2015 as I also moved to Edmonton but lost contact with each other over the passed couple years. I had the great pleasure to truly getting to know Erika. She always had a very kind and loving spirit, and is the strongest girl I have ever met. She always would tell me she wished she could just have a normal life and not have to have to fight all the time. I truly regret not being able to say goodbye to her one last time but I know she is at peace and will not have to fight anymore. Rest in peace Erika.

Rip Erika. Haven’t talked in years. We went to middle school and high school together. I hope you are at peace

I chatted with Erika only a few times when she purchased some of my masks. It was obvious she was a lovely woman with the kindest heart. I’m saddened to hear of her passing … way too soon. May God provide you with the strength to endure during this most difficult time.

Mike and I are so saddened by this news. Erika was such a strong and lovely person. We lived next door to Erika, JoAnn and Jayda for nearly 7 years. We called them the perfect neighbors because they truly were! So friendly, kind and affectionate (mostly due to Jayda’s kisses). We would like to send our condolences to JoAnn, Jayda and Erika’s family & friends. She will be greatly missed. I picture Erika at peace, perfectly healthy and no longer in pain. Rest in peace Erika. Thank you for the light you brought to our lives.
