It is with saddened hearts that the family of Evelyn Dorothy Koberstein announce the passing of our dear Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, on July 26, 2022, at the age of 90 years.
Evelyn is survived by her son Allan Koberstein, her daughter Carol (Barry) Boychuk, her son Kenneth (Sheila) Koberstein, her daughter Ruth (Ken) Rosher, and her son Randy (Janice) Koberstein; grandchildren Jody (Dave) Danchuk, Jason (Deena) Fuller, Les (Jackie) Rosher, Andrew (Tanya) Rosher, Aaron (Kayla) Boychuk, Allison (Terry) Koberstein, Dana (Chenée) Boychuk, and Jeremy Koberstein; great grandchildren Bryson Danchuk, Jamie Danchuk, Matt Fuller, Kent Fuller, Kara Rosher, Janelle Rosher, Lily Rosher, Bracken Rosher, and Emmy Rosher; two surviving sisters in law Jeannette Schultz and Shirley Penner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Robert, daughter Shirley (Fuller) and son in law (Kenneth Fuller).
Years earlier, her only brother (Eddie Wegner) and only sister (Wilma Wegner) passed away.
She was born to Edward and Herta Wegner, grew up in the Barrhead area, but with Robert raised their family in Mercoal and later Hinton, Alberta.
Because of declining health during her final year, she moved to Edmonton to be closer to her immediate family.
Evelyn will be remembered for her smiles, dedication to her large family and devotion to Robert, wonderfully tasty baking and cooking, sewing and quilting, being an exceptional housekeeper, and having nutritious vegetable and beautiful flower gardens. She had one of the most difficult, but important jobs in the world, that of being a mother to six children, where her strength and energy shone.
During their retirement years, Evelyn and Robert travelled to many different countries, including cruises, bus tours and driving their camper van in Canada and the US.
Our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma gave us the gift of her love and wonderful memories.
A family Celebration of Life is to be scheduled.
