Joel passed away on July 25, 2021 after a continued battle with prostate cancer. He was predeceased by his father and hero Len. He is survived by the love of his life Bev, his mother Bette, and his 3 brothers and their wives, Steve and Lina, Ian and Louise, Jonathan and Sheila, and sister-in-law Barb and her partner Kim. There are 9 nieces and nephews and 7 great nephews and nieces with one pending. Joel was extremely grateful for the support of his family and friends during his last months. They are and were an inspiration. He was very lucky in where he worked, 30 years with Canada Revenue Agency, a further subsequent 9 years at Chapters, and spanning this time 20 years working with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets as a volunteer and in uniform as a member of the Canadian Instructor Corps. Joel and Bev didn’t have kids of their own, but working with the cadets at both the cadet corps and summer camps (7) Joel always felt that he had thousands of kids.
Joel would also like to thank the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute and Laurel Heights who provided care during his fight with prostate cancer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute or the Army Cadet League of Canada (Alberta). As per Joel’s and Bev’s wishes, family will be conducting a private celebration of life.
