KING, Albert Lindsay

Albert Lindsay King (known to most as “Lindsay”), born August 2, 1924, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 19, 2022. Born in Moosejaw, SK, to Lamplow and Jean (Lindsay) King, Lindsay served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II before moving to Edmonton in the early 1950s to start a family. Lindsay was an active member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 488 since 1949, organizing and eventually serving as president.

Lindsay was full of love and life. He was grateful to exist on this earth and was generous with his heart. He was an incredible role model, consistently living with compassion, patience, and empathy. He was a life-long learner and maintained an open mind and heart throughout his life. Lindsay had the uncanny ability to make whoever he was spending time with feel exceptional. The love he felt for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in particular was deep and impactful; he spent quality time with each of them and took every opportunity to remind them that they were special and loved. He will be remembered for his easy laugh, his deep breathing, his home-grown sprouts, his “cold hands and warm heart”, the time he always put aside for those he loved, and for the incredible unconditional love that was deeply felt by those who were lucky enough to know him.

Lindsay is survived by his longtime partner, Dorene Redshaw, son David (Susan); daughter-in-law Bonnie; daughter Linda; grandchildren Ronald (Dawn), Julie (Keith), Heather, Janet and Nicole; and great-grandchildren Quinn, Teague, Guthrie, Ava, Alex and Koen. He is predeceased by his son, Roderick; his grandson, Bradley; and his sisters, Marjorie, and Loraine.
