KIMMITT, John Leroy

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, John Leroy Kimmitt, of Fort Saskatchewan, passed away on April 12th, 2022, at the age of 73.

John was born November 12, 1948, in Brooks, Alberta, and spent the majority of his childhood living in the west end of Edmonton, Alberta, where he met his loving wife of almost 51 years, Linda (Bellamy). John and Linda made their life and raised a family together in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, where John worked for Chevron Canada and eventually Keyera Corp. After retirement in 2008, he enjoyed traveling, spending time in Buckeye, Arizona golfing with his wife and friends, and having the odd glass of scotch.

John was predeceased by his parents John Clyde and Christina, his daughter-in-law Shannon, and grandson Justin Grimes.

John will be held in loving memory by his wife Linda and will be remembered as the best dad in the world by his children Rhonda (Kevin) Grimes, Mike (Carmen) Kimmitt, and Russ (Linh) Kimmitt, and the most wonderful grandfather to Katherine, Dalton, Craig, Brennen, Morgan, Alyssa, Aiden, and Ceili. John will also be fondly remembered by his sisters Donna (David) Irons, Dorothy (Gordon) Wentworth, Jeanne Kimmitt (Dale Squire), and Lorraine Mackenzie, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

John had been a resident of Fort Saskatchewan since 1972 and was a valued member of the community, particularly through his community work through Chevron and Keyera and with his philanthropic efforts through the John & Linda Kimmitt Family Fund (Edmonton Community Foundation) in support of the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital and other charities.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Dow Centennial Center Lion’s Mane room in Fort Saskatchewan on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 1 pm.
