When I die
Give what’s left of me away
To children
And old me that wait to die.

And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.
And when you need me,
Put your arms
Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.

Look for me
In the people I’ve known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on in your eyes
And not your mind.

You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands,
By letting bodies touch bodies,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.

Love doesn’t die,
People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love,
Give me away.

I miss you terribly my friend. I can hear you in my head saying “Hey Hair”. Ru and I first met in grade 6. We didn’t like each other at first but we soon formed a friendship that spanned 47 years. I remember the shenanigans we got into as teens. We laughed together, cried together, travelled together and been there for each other. Even when we hadn’t see each other for a while we would pick up like no time had passed. So many memories. You were as a sister to me. Until we meet again❤️❤️❤️❤️

I remember when I first met you in Mexico. My best friend and I feel immediately fell in love with you. You had the greatest personality and you were so full of love and acceptance. I told you that you reminded me of my mom. Meeting you, and your closest friends, truly made our vacation more memorable. We had dinners together, we danced together, laughed together, we reminisced together, and we developed a strong bond…together. You will be missed❤️

My Dear friend Ruth,
You were the sister who came along with your big heart. We went on so many trips and had so much fun together. You were the one who texted or called me every single day when I was working up north.
I know you cherished our friendship like I did and I will never forget you.I can’t believe you are gone. Will miss you forever.

I’ll never forget your Boxing Day phone call years ago, you were on a mission to bring the Canada and UK sides of the family closer together. You succeeded, and that legacy is helping us now. Hope you and Lee have found each other and are getting up to mischief together. Love Jane xx

Sarah and Stephen Tilley

When we booked to visit Canada, you were the one Ruth who chatted to us lots before we came, enthused us further for our trip. When we stopped in Jasper, we booked into the hotel and were given a telephone message to ring you. If we’d have arrived at the hotel sooner, you’d have driven 7 hours to see us. If only we’d have arrived sooner. Stephen said there was always a hint of mischief in your voice especially when you spoke about holidaying in Cancoon! Lots of love and hugs always. X
