Kevin Simpson

Kevin Simpson

July 24, 1960 to June 21, 2016

Kevin Simpson was born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 24, 1960.   Kevin left this earthly world on the afternoon of June 21, 2016 at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, having succumbed to an aggressive cancer. At the time of his passing, he was in the company of family and peacefully transitioned to “be with his Mom”.

Kevin was given up at birth when his young mother was unable to care for him. He was placed in a foster home at the age of 2 where he grew up. In his adult years, he sought out his biological family and developed strong connections to his father, siblings and other blood relations while maintaining his place in the foster family in which he grew up. In the days before his passing, the members of these two families have come together and have been blessed with getting to know each other and the important relationships they had with Kevin.

Kevin had many talents. He was a carpenter, a house cleaner, a cook, a landscaper and gardener, a camp cook, a forklift operator and a tradesperson and handyperson in so very many ways. Most of all, he was a person whose heart was big… so big that he never thought to keep things to himself, but would give them to anyone in need and when he was in need, he trusted that someone would give back to him.

Kevin is predeceased by his foster Mom and Dad. Among those who mourn his unexpected passing are his birth father and step mother, as well as sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the family… all disbelieving this unfortunate and sudden turn of events. A traditional wake will be held at Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples on Tuesday, June 28 beginning at 4 p.m. with a funeral Mass to be held on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 10821 – 96 Street, Edmonton.

Thanks to the incredible compassion and care shown by the ICU team at the Misericordia and to the support of family and friends that showed their love for Kevin by their presence at the hospital and through their prayers.
