It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother Kenneth Roy Sagstuen on February 10, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.
Ken was born August 28, 1958 in High River, Alberta to Hans and Mary Sagstuen. He was 10 of 12 siblings. He attended school in Didsbury and Ponoka. Ken was a general labourer who held many jobs, he worked in the oil field industry and up until his passing he worked as the maintenance man in the building he lived in for over 20 years. The manager of the building said that he is going to be missed as he was quick to do the repair work. Ken loved to watch TV and had several favorite shows that he watched daily. He also was an avid lifelong fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. We all learned not to call at certain times of the day because he did not want to miss the show or any part of the ball game.
Ken called the tenants in the building his family as they all looked out for each other. This was comforting to know that with his illness everyone would check on him.
Ken was predeceased by his brother James in 1953, niece Tracy (Joan)1970, nephew Tyler (Rhonda) 1987, his mother 1988, father 1989, sister Joan 1994, sister Jenniece 1996, sister Louise 2002, nephew Darryl (Betty) 2016, brother Ronald 2016 and niece Ashley (Cheryl) 2017.
Ken is survived by his sister Betty, his brother Jerry (Laurie), brother Gordon (Cecile), brother Norman, sister Rhonda (Bryan) and sister Cheryl (Cosmo). He is survived by his Aunt Lois, Aunt Lillian and Aunt Alice as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wish to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Jessica Kirkwood and her team, Cross Cancer Institute staff and Royal Alexandra Hospital staff for their support and care shown to Ken.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
