Kenneth Michael Hnatiuk

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Michael Hnatiuk. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Dawne; children: Lynda, Mark (Kim), Jim (Lesley), Heather (Carlos); 5 grandchildren: Tegan (Andy), Joss (Jen), Arielle, Andria, Gracia; and great-grandson, Benson. He is also survived by his sisters: Mary Clark, Helen Hvenegaard, Rose (Mickey) Cousins; sister-in-law Gwen Hnatiuk; and numerous wonderful nieces and nephews.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Mykyta and Melania; brother, John, and
two brothers-in-law.

Born and raised in Southern Alberta, Ken worked for many years as Terminal Manager for Northern Transportation Co. and had a special appreciation for the Arctic lands and the Northern Lights. Known as a hard worker, he took great joy in his grandchildren upon his retirement.

At his request, there will be no funeral service. He was well taken care of in his last years by his loving daughter-in-law, Kim, and by the caring staff of Shepherd’s Garden, Millwoods.

Sorry, there are no details found...

My dad, Bruce Hunter, worked with Ken at NTCL for years. It was pretty common for one of the company’s bachelors (Ken, Frank Kiss, Henry Christofferson) to join our family for Sunday dinner when they happened to be in town. I remember him as not saying very much, but taking a part in any conversation. This may sound peculiar, but as a kid, I always thought he had the nicest nose. It was how I recognized him years later, at my dad’s retirement part in March, 1980.
