It is with sadness that we announce the passing away of our mother, Margaret Ann Keene on March 18th, 2020 at the age of 86.
Born in Montreal in 1934; Margaret grew up in Brockville, Ontario and then studied music at the University of Toronto. She spent time teaching at a Canadian Forces base in Germany before moving to the United Kingdom where she completed her Masters of Arts degree from the University of Birmingham. During the 13 years Margaret was in England she became a mother to two children, Lynn and Maggie.
Upon returning to Canada, Margaret moved to Edmonton, AB and taught language arts at the Spruce Grove Junior High School for many years and literature courses both in class and remotely at McEwan University and for Athabasca University.
Margaret lived a full life enjoying the company of her family and many good friends that she cherished greatly. She had a special love for theatre and opera, which she attended regularly. When not with friends the company of her cat and a good book was a perfect combination.
Her son Lynn (Costadia) Patchett, granddaughters Eleanna and Aikyoni, daughter Margaret Patchett, and her sister Marin Brown survive Margaret along with her beloved nephews and nieces and many great friends.
A memorial celebrating Margaret’s life will be held in due course in both Edmonton and Brockville. Please send an email to [email protected] to be notified of the memorial date.
Memorial donations in name of deceased’s honour may be made directly to name of Chrohn’s and Colitis Canada.
