Junice was born on June 3, 1929 in Camrose, Alberta. She was the second of three children born to George and Martha Traster. June completed her nurse’s training at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and then worked briefly at the Alberta Hospital in Ponoka. June married Norman Kern on October 22, 1952 at Bethany Baptist Church, Camrose. They lived in Camrose until the spring of 1955 when they moved onto the family farm outside of Millet where they lived until 2005, when they moved to the town of Millet. June leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Greg (Maggie) and their children, Nicholas and Alanna of Calgary, Alberta; Graham (Miriam) of Bismarck, North Dakota and their children, Shawna (Derek), Mason and Nora Kost of Bismarck, North Dakota; Mark of Bismarck, North Dakota; and Shannon (Luke) Beckermann of Fargo, North Dakota; Jeff (Denise) and their children, Emma and Ben of Millet, Alberta. June was predeceased by her husband, Norman; her parents George and Martha Traster; and her sisters, Hazel Sorenson and Estella Orvis.
The family of June would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the staff and doctors at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre long term care, Unit 33 for all their kindness and care that they showed towards June.
