Joy Laverne Reeve


It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunty, niece and friend Joy (Smith) Reeve at the age of 60 years.

Joy will be deeply missed by her son Richard Reeve; daughter Amanda Reeve; her grandchildren Alexandra and Nicholas; her brothers Ron (Paulette) Smith, Jerry Smith; her sisters Louise (Wade) Hansma, Peggy (Brian) Schumacher, Tami (Clay) Kaldestad and Cheryl (Glenn) Ogilvie and their families.

Joy was born in Ponoka, AB on April 24, 1955 and passed away in Leduc, AB January 30, 2016 with her family and other special friends by her side.

Family was very important to Joy; she loved spending time and laughing with them. Joy loved music and was a huge Elvis fan; she played guitar and knew an endless amount of card games. She also had a passion for BINGO! Joy was also well known for her hairdressing skills and had many loyal customers. Joy will be in our hearts forever.

Joy’s family will be having a Celebration of her Life Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, 5210 – 50 Avenue, Leduc, AB and on August 12, 2016 in St. Paul, AB; details will be announced at a later date.

We would also like to extend a HUGE thank you to Wayne Beveridge of Leduc, AB for his efforts in helping care for Joy in the final year of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joy’s name to Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society, Box 35, Mallaig, AB T0A 2K0, or the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 9Z9.

Joy Reeve was my grandmother, she always made me happy when I saw her or even talked to her on the phone. I am very sad to loose her, and she was one of the most important people ever to me. She was very special and will be dearly missed. I never got to say goodbye but she will be in my heart forever!
