Joseph Frederick Meyers

-

Joe passed away suddenly while on his way to a music show, one of his favourite things in life. Joe was born in Toronto as the first of six children to Grant and Marion. Joe moved west to Edmonton with his family in 1966 and lived there ever since. Joe was an avid sport and music fan and he always kept up with the Jays, Oilers and Eskimos. He was a perennial fan of early rock and roll but his biggest love was for the vocal styles of the Beach Boys and Frankie Valli. Joe also wrote and published volumes of poetry. Joe leaves behind his four brothers, Mike, Peter, Greg, and Kevin and his sister Mary Jane. He also had a special place in his heart for his nine nieces and nephews, often sending them gifts on their special occasions. Funeral services for Joe will be held November 22 at 11a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 200 Boundary Road, Spruce Grove. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association – Edmonton Branch.

Dear Peter and your family. It was heart warming to see a picture of the man we never met, a man who was so much more than we knew. It would be an honor to read some of his work and we look forward to that. You are in our hearts and minds, especially on Saturday when you gather together to say farewell to a special man. We will keep in touch. With love and understanding from all of our family. Gladys.
