John “Jack” Edward Sweet

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Sweet at the age of 77 years.

Sandy, Jack’s wife of 54 years, will miss how they laughed together.  The big guy will also be missed by his children, Danielle (Jon) and Lee (Shala); his grandchildren, Marcus, Nola, Caroline, and Lincoln; as well as numerous relatives and friends.  We are certain that, on the other side, Jack has met up with all of the cats he loved so dearly.

Jack was raised in Menaik and spent many years working in the gas fields of Fox Creek before settling in Wetaskiwin. He was known to enjoy his family, fishing, cooking, growing flowers, telling jokes, and having good conversation.

As per his wishes, Jack will be cremated, and his ashes scattered.  There will be no service.  Instead, please consider taking a walk in nature or listening to your favorite piece of music while reflecting on your personal memories of Jack.

Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of Unit 33 at the Wetaskiwin Hospital for their care and compassion, and Dr. B. Gagnon for the many years he looked after our Dad.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation (6910-47 Street, Wetaskiwin, AB  T9A 3N3)

Thinking of you Sandy. Your Jack was always a part of our young family life and his name was brought up many times
in our memory conversations. My Mom loved Jack and he was definitely one of her many sons.. Please let the
knowing that others care help in your grief..

Ellen Johnson

My dear Sandy, you and the family are in my the thoughts and prayers. I hope Jack wasn’t suffering and that heaven above better watch out as he joins his buddy Garry. The next days, nights, weeks and years will be tough, but know that with friends, family, each day does get better. I’m sorry that we haven’t kept in touch as much as we should, but I will be thinking of you with love and all the good memories we had. Love and hugs Ellen
