It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa (Poppa), John Gordon Kuefler, who passed away surrounded by his loved ones at the Rivercrest Care Center on July 17, 2018 at the age of 90. He was born June 22, 1928 in Galahad, Alberta.
Gordon remains forever in the hearts of his many loving family members. He is survived by his life partner, soul mate and cherished wife of 68 years Ethel (nee Rombough). Seven children; Warren (Donna), Gary (Margaret), Morris (Deborah), Wendolyn (Wayne) Watt, Wesley (Carolyn), Brenda, and Dianna (Fred) Kuipers.
Gordon was a devoted Grandpa and mentor to his twenty grandchildren; Theresa (Barry) Wahlstrom, Michael (Tammy), Terry, Corey (Karol), Tyler (Randi), Timothy (Mysticque), Katrina, Neil (Melanie) Bye-Kuefler, Ryan, Nicole (Michael) Edginton, Jefferey (Sarah-Jean) Watt, Tara (Sean) Holowaty, Kelsey (Ken) Dalida, Dylan, Kyle Murphy, Kara-Lynn (Graham) Baker, Keeley (Curtis) Proskiw, Kavan Murphy, Darcy Kuipers and Riley Kuipers.

Gordon will also be lovingly remembered by his sister Geraldine (Doug) Krogman, brothers Steven (Josephine), Edward (Ann), sister-in-law Rinnie Low Kuefler, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and the last of a long line of furry companions, Lady.
We are comforted by the knowledge that he will be rejoining his loved ones; his parents Leo Stephen who died in 1976 and Caroline Mary Kuefler (nee Tschida) in 1994, brothers Leander in 1939, Melvin in 1997 and David in 2013, sister-in-law Aimee Kuefler (nee Lamoureux) in 2002, his niece Carolyn Richard (nee Kuefler) in 1989, nephew Martin Kuefler in 2008, nephew-in-law Michael Cope in 2014, as well as many treasured in-laws.
We are indebted and forever grateful to the wonderful staff at the Rivercrest Care Center for the loving care given during his residential stay, as well as in his passing. No words can express how appreciative we are, as a family, to Fr. Francis Mariappa, for his prayers, compassion, kindness and empathy. Also we would like to extend a thank you to the Doctors and staff who assisted us during his intermittent stays at the Redwater Health Center and the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital.
As per Gordon’s wishes a Christian burial service will be held at the Galahad (Holy Cross) Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gordon’s name to the Galahad (Holy Cross) Cemetery, P.O. Box 165 Galahad, Alberta T0B 1R0.
Remember him with a smile today
He was not one for tears
Reflect instead on memories
Of all the happy years
Recall to mind the way he spoke
And all the thing he said
His strength, his stance, the way he walked
Remember these instead
The good advice he’d give us
His eyes that shone with laughter
So much of him will never die
But live on ever after
As we loved you, so we miss you
In our memory you are near
Loved, remembered, longed for always
Bringing many a silent tear.
