Johanna Siebert (nee Daus) was born in Hassenpaut, Latvia on May 13, 1920. In 1929 the Daus family moved to Creston Valley, B.C. There she met and married Edward Siebert in 1935. She and Edward made several moves to Alberta and Kimberly, before returning for good to Creston Valley in 1944 where they established a dairy farm. Edward died in 1967 and Johanna and her youngest daughter Carol moved to Edmonton in 1968; there she used her skill in cooking to remain gainfully employed until she retired in 1985.
She lived independently in a detached home and then a condominium until age 97.
After living for another year in the Churchill Manor Retirement Home she was hospitalized with flu and bronchitis. Several weeks later she succumbed and died peacefully on the morning of March 6, 2018 at the age of 97 years.
She is survived by her son Howard; daughters Nancy and Carol; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her three siblings and her husband Edward.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8405-83 Street Edmonton, AB.
Johanna will be laid to rest at the Lister Community Cemetery, Creston Valley, B.C.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church or Salvation Army.
