I’ve known Jeanie for as long as I can remember because she was my older sister’s best friend since they were young girls. Jeanie and Pat grew up together, had boyfriends together, shared the ups and downs of marriages, divorces, the joys and challenges of kids and ultimately, Jeanie was there when my sister died. Jeanie had a very kind and generous spirit. She visited my mom frequently when mom was in the Ottewell Seniors Lodge and often brought her thoughtful little gifts that she had made or bought. My mom really loved Jeanie. When Jeanie was in her teens, there were times that she stayed at our house and my mom was so impressed with her adeptness at housekeeping and willingness to help out. My mom was always sure to point out these attributes to my sister who was somewhat less enthusiastic about cleaning chores.

I know that there were some really difficult times for Jeanie in her life and I hope that she has now found peace in being rejoined with all of her family and friends, especially her kids. Despite her troubles, she found the strength to help others and maintain her “let’s-get-it-done” attitude.

She will be missed.

My condolences to Jean’s family, I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend the service. Jean was my aunt Pat’s best friend and I have many fond memories of her while I was growing up. A few years ago Jean got me a job with her stuffing olives while I was recuperating from surgery. I enjoyed spending that time with her and she told me many stories of her and my aunt with all their shenanigans. I will miss her <3
