It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of James “YoYo” Lepine on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at his home in Edmonton, AB, at the young age of 38 years old.
Although taken too soon, James was larger than life, and was an extremely social and generous human being with a ready smile and unforgettable laugh. James could light up any room without fail, and he made everyone that he met feel like the most important person in the world. James was incredibly selfless and compassionate, not only as a father and son, but as a friend to many. James’ heart was much bigger than he was, and he undoubtedly put everyone before himself, especially his “Mini-Yo” Brodie.
The role that James played as a father was truly his most rewarding and fulfilling accomplishment in life. Brodie was his absolute pride and joy, and as James would say:
“Everybody says he is exactly like me, maybe a little too much like me… it’s pretty cool actually because he is my best friend. I know it’s crazy to say that my son is my best friend, coz I’m supposed to be a parent, but you know what? It’s OK! He knows who daddy is.”
This perfectly captures the extraordinary relationship that James and Brodie shared, as father and son.
James is survived by his main man Brodie, loving mother Jessie, father Roland, sister Danielle, brother Tyler, and nephew Zakari. His memory will be cherished by his grandparents; his many aunts, uncles and cousins; and the countless number of friends whose lives he has touched.
Please join us for a Memorial Service, immediately followed by a Celebration of James’ life; both will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 starting at 11:00 am at St. Theresa’s Catholic Parish, 7508 29 Ave, Edmonton, AB T6K 3Y8.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in trust for Brodie Lepine; cash and checks donations are welcome at the Memorial Service and at any BMO Branch.
