Jim Hlady passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on April 15, 2016 after a long battle with kidney disease. Jim was born on December 28, 1942 in Brandon, Manitoba to Mildred and Harry Hlady. On November 12, 1966 he married the love of his life, Joy Hlady in Edmonton, Alberta, where they settled and raised their family. He worked in sales for many years and owned a limousine company, where he thoroughly enjoyed talking to clients while driving them to their destinations. When anyone asked him how he was doing, he would reply with one of his favourite sayings “Top of the world!”
Jim was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Dad was always happiest at home surrounded by his family, and looked forward to the yearly trip to Banff every August. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joy Hlady, daughter Leslie (Mark and children Kaitlyn and Parker), and son Greg (Joy and sons Malcolm and Connor).
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 22nd at the Devon Alliance Church, off Highway 60. A special thank you to the Devon Hospital medical staff, and the doctors and nurses at the University of Alberta Hospital in the Dialysis Ward for their special care for dad over the years. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the charity of your choice.
