Dr. Jim Stanners passed away peacefully on March 9, 2015, one day shy of his 90th birthday. Jim was born in Wick, Scotland March 10, 1925. He spent his childhood in Grangemouth where he met and married his childhood sweetheart Betty on July 6, 1950. He worked as a general practitioner in both Wingate and Hartlepool, England for 16 years before immigrating to Canada in 1966. He established a practice in Daysland where he worked for 21 years, before retiring to Edmonton. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed many happy hours on the course.
He is survived by his wife Betty Stanners, son Martin Stanners (Colleen), daughter Jean Rittenhouse (Bryan), his grandchildren Ryan Stanners (Lianne), Darren Stanners (Jenni), Lindsay Stanners, Neil Rittenhouse, Allison Rittenhouse, and five great grandchildren.
Special thanks are extended to Jocelyn who enabled him to live independently for the past several years.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday March 14th 2015, 2-4pm in the Games Room of Devonshire Village, 1728 Rabbit Hill Rd, Edmonton.
