I read most of the condolences and I see a trend, my cousin Jim was witty, always willing to pitch in to help when someone was in need! etc. etc etc

I always admired Jim for his ability to let all negativity slip off his back, he always looked at the cup as being half full (not half empty). I admire this ability and wish I was able to be more like him. He was my closest cousin (in age). I was born 2 months after him and I believe in our families we shared many common personalities. He is a hero and will always forever more be in my thoughts, Love you Jim, miss you already, was really glad I was able to see you in September 2015!

Karen Kokotilo and Dave Straub

Our deepest condolences toJim’s family and those whose lives he touched. He was our lake buddy, the keeper of the point who looked after anyone who needed a hand. Such a giving person. And his dog, Ogday will be missed as well. Two wonderful souls gone too soon.

Our thoughts and prayers to the Kowal family on Jim’s passing. I will continue to look back fondly on the times I was able to spend with Jimmy (JK) and Doug around the card table or Risk board in Edmonton when Jim was our “long term” guest while we attended university. To this day, I still hear (and borrow) some of Jim’s non-stop, witty commentary from those good old days. We will miss you Jimmy! God Bless!

Our sincerest condolences. Jim was a stalwart and upright neighbour who was always ready to lend a hand, with a wit that entertained us all. His love of dogs and kindness to them made him the most beloved person for the canines on the point. You will be very missed, Jim.

Jim, Jimmy, JK. These were just a few of the names my good friend Jimmy Kowal went by with his friends. Jim had a razor sharp wit and he loved to use it, often at my expense. We lived about a block apart growing up and we grew up together in DV and at Lake Isle. Jim worked the drilling rigs after high school and it was normal for him to spend his days off living on the couch in me and Mike M’s apartment. We spent a lot of time together throughout our 20’s and many of my fondest memories involve laughing with Jim.
I moved to BC and over the years Jim and I didn’t see as much of each other as we had. I know that after his accident Jim’s life wasn’t what he had dreamed it would be or what his family wished for him. That is a shame because Jim had so much potential.
Jim was one of my best friends and the Kowal family has always been good to me. My sorrow for their loss is deep and my thoughts and prayers are with them.
