With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of Ed James on May 9, 2020, at the age of 81 years.
Ed is lovingly remembered by his dear wife of 20 years, Gloria; his children, Theresa, Stephen (Peter), Colleen (Barry), and Angela (Wayne); his grandchildren, Ceanne (Carsten), Catherine (Brendan), Melanie, Evan, Derek, and Morgan; his great-grandson, Oliver. He also leaves behind, his sisters Audrey, Angela, Mary (Stan) and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his loving first wife, Joyce, in 1997, his parents Mary Florence and John Frederick, siblings Malcolm, Jack, and Kath, and numerous other relatives.
Ed was born in Port Talbot, Wales in 1939, and immigrated to Canada in 1975 to ensure a better future for his family. He arrived with $200 in his pocket and no job. Despite starting out with so little, Ed made a loving and caring home for his family. He worked at Reed Tool for many years before becoming co-owner of Sea-Can Containers.
Ed had a strong faith and a zest for life, receiving much joy from his family. He was a man blessed with many friends. He fought cancer the same way he lived his life, giving it his all and fighting all the way. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Pieter Cloete for the kindness, care, and support he showed to Ed during his battle with cancer.
A funeral mass will be celebrated for immediate family on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at 11:00 AM, and will be live-streamed at www.boscoparish.com (St. John Bosco Parish).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ed’s honour to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
