In Loving Memory of James Arthur Wylie, BSc Pharmacy, 1949
It is with great sadness that the family of James (Jim) Wylie of Edmonton announce his passing on February 20, 2016, at the age of 88 years.
Jim is survived by his children Janice, David and Alan (Cathy), his seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren of whom he loved very much and was very proud of, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Vivian Viola Wylie (née Riley) and his eldest son, Robert James Wylie.
A native of Hannah, Alberta, born April 28, 1927, Jim attended the University of Alberta and graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. He owned and operated an independent drug store, Suburban Drugs for many years of his pharmaceutical career.
He was actively involved with the Alberta Pharmaceutical Association and received accolades for his contributions. He was a forerunner in many pharmaceutical aspects, including pioneering the use of medication blister packs.
At Jim’s request, no public funeral or memorial service will be held. There will be a family graveside gathering.
A celebration of Jim’s “lucky” life will take place on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 2 – 4 pm, in the Amenities Room in The Lodge at Lewis Estates, 278 Suder Greens Drive NW, Edmonton.
In lieu of floral tributes, Jim requested that donations be made to the Edmonton Food Bank or the Jasper Place Health and Wellness Centre.
