Jacqueline Marie Logan
Jacqueline (Jackie), was the fourth child in a family of seven, born in Legal, Alberta to Francois and Denise Coulombe. With five girls and two boys, this French Canadian family was full of noise, laughter and music with nearly everyone in the household playing an instrument or singing. Even though Jackie had a quieter disposition, she sang like an angel and played the piano beautifully, gaining a large repertoire of songs over the years. Later, after moving to Edmonton, she met and married James Logan, and they had four children, Brian, Greg, Dianne and Jeannine. The music continued with Jackie chording on the piano while Jim played the violin.
In Jackie’s later years, she was stricken with dementia which brought her to South Terrace Long Term Care Home. There, even though dementia was slowly robbing her memory, the music remained. Jackie would be brought to the piano where she would draw from her vast repertoire and entertain with the old songs everyone recognized and could sing along to.
Jackie’s life is marked with laughter, song, sorrow and hardships; a story we can all relate to in this beautiful yet difficult life. The most valuable part of her life ultimately was her Faith in God and the knowledge of His Forgiveness and Grace. Her sweet spirit will be deeply missed.
