It is with profound sadness and sense of loss that I announce the passing of my mother and friend on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Edmonton at the age of 82. She will lovingly be remembered by her only child Linda (Lorne), granddaughter Lauren, grandson Ian, sisters Cecile and Joanne, brothers Gil (Mavis) and Roger (Bev), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. Jackie was predeceased by her father Leo and mother Jeanne.
Jackie was born in Bordenave, Alberta and loved to reminisce about her time growing up on the farm with her siblings. She was a hard-working, practical individual. Because people were attracted to her easy to get along with nature, sense of humor and kindness, she had wonderful friends wherever she lived. Jackie was accomplished at cooking, crocheting, and needlepoint; today, many of her works of art hang in the homes of those she loved. Spending time with family was important to her. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and many a cribbage game was played whenever they were together. Throughout her life Jackie had her share of challenges which she faced with strength, determination and dignity.
She was truly an inspiration to all who knew her.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and therapists of Unit 4C, Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital for their kindness, support and care during her 3-month stay.
Jackie was cremated on April 30, 2017 and at her request, no service was held.
Donations in memory of Jackie may be made directly to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation.
